Once more.
Last week, Thursday and Friday to be exact I sent my two boys at the Day Care for full day. Same school where Andrew is currently enrolled. There is such thing as Emergency Day Care here just like what I did. There will be a big change coming soon, but for now I prefer schooling over Yaya (?)
Why?
Let me tell you something. Why would you have doubts sending your kids in a daycare? I asked myself the same question…why would I put them to daycare when a Yaya can take good care of them? Not until I experienced it myself and my view changed radically. It was Jacobs first time to go to a full day care. Never in his life I have enrolled him to any short course. Right off the bat, when the time was needed I put him to daycare with ANdrew. The teachers were very professional. Thats the strongest point a daycare can make against employing a YAYA. They are professional.
Next, their activities are a lot of fun. The kid didn’t cry at all! He enjoyed himself immensely that when I picked them up after office they were all smiling and they looked really happy. The teachers were telling me a lot of stories about the two of them.
About food, they follow a nutrition guide in all of their meals. They eat their breakfast, lunch, merienda at school. They have bath time, nap time and play time. In the morning, that’s where the teaching comes in (Chinese, Montessori, Learning through play etc.) At the back of my mind What the __ was I thinking ??? Trying to choose between a Yaya and the professional people?
Day 2, it couldnt get any better than this. The teachers told me that Andrew is starting to be sociable because of Jacob. Jacob is more ma-PR while Andrew is reserved. They saw that Andrew was happy to have his brother with him at school and the story was endless. I think , they really are having fun with my kids. Hehehehe. They ate a lot! Jacob kept on asking for food. As usual. Hehehehe.
When I fetch them, I feel this positive feeling that I dont have to worry about their well-being and “learning”. Disciplined in such a way that’s more proper and apt for their age. Than being with a yaya. Spell Disaster. If Jacob is left at home, he goes cranky the whole day. Sometimes its hard to know how to keep him “busy”.
When he entered the school for 2 days, he changed. I was glad to see the changes.
My mom arrived. Andrew goes to school again alone. He cried. He was always telling me that he is happy to have Jacob as his schoolmate. They play together. I asked him if he wants Jacob to go to school..he said Yes without batting an eyelash. I also asked Jacob if he wants to go to school, he said “YES!”
Tell me, how can I say NO to my kids?
IM working ON IT. Sure, daycare connotes a different meaning to Filipinos but what the heck. Daycare is much better than having a yaya. =)
What can I Do? I am not in Manila. This is sooo not Manila. Live a Singaporean way.
Need to work on this SOON.
* The yaya needs to be repatriated soon, it’s a long story*
